Maroulosalata (Greek Lettuce Salad) Recipe

Maroulosalata basically translates to Lettuce Salad in Greek. It is a classic recipe that is made with thinly sliced lettuce, Scallions, fresh herbs like dill, parsley, and mint, and tossed in a bright vinaigrette. Simple yet so delicious and is the perfect complement to any main dish.

Fresh tomatoes, crunchy cucumbers, crisp red onions, green peppers, romaine lettuce, savoury olives and crumbled feta cheese all tossed in a homemade lemony Greek salad dressing makes for the most perfect Greek salad. This refreshing classic salad takes just a few minutes to prep and toss together.

I love Greek food and I love salad... so it goes without saying that I love Greek salad. In fact, it is probably my favourite salad of all time. For starters, I could eat olives and feta cheese all day. I eat olives… out of the container… with a spoon… So, how can I say no to a salad that contains all of my favourites?

Ingredients
2 hearts romaine lettuce
4-5 scallions, diced
1 bunch fresh dill, chopped
4 oz feta cheese, crumbled
1/2 cup olive oil
1 large lemon, juiced
1/4 tsp salt

Instructions
  1. Rinse your lettuce clean then THINLY SLICE. Dry well in your salad spinner.
  2. Whisk together the oil, lemon juice and salt until smooth and thick.
  3. Place the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Pour the dressing over the salad. Toss all together and massage/scrunch the greens with your hands to infuse with the rest of the ingredients and break down its rough characteristics.
